Jonas father is about to perform a ceremony of release for
the twins, he is doing this because the community can’t have two people that
look exactly alike, so the lightest baby will be release. Taking about Release, Jonas was starting to
wonder about the rule of “not applying to Release”, why he couldn’t apply? The
Giver gave him the answer for that question, he told him about the previous Receiver
of 10 years ago, she was a girl call Rosemary, The Giver loved her. Rosemary
could not handle so much pain of the memories she received and decided to apply
for Release, after she did that all the memories return to the community, it
was a CHAOS! After that no Receiver is allow to apply for Release ever again.
Jonas was very curious about the ceremonies of Release so he ask for the video of
the ceremony his dad perform, he saw everything, he knew the truth, and the
truth was that Release means killing, his dad killed the lightest baby. Jonas
was really upset and The Giver decided that is time for them to change the
society they lived in, so they elaborate a plan, a plan for Jonas to run away
so the memories could return to the community, but The Giver wasn’t involved in
the part of running away. The Giver wants to be with his daughter again, his daughter
Rosemary…
“I will take care of that, sir. I will take care of that,
sir,” Jonas mimicked in a cruel sarcastic voice. “I will do whatever you like,
sir. I will kill people, sir. Old people? Small newborn people? I’d be happy to kill them, sir. Thank you for
your instructions, sir. How may I help y…” He couldn’t seem to stop.”
Right now Jonas seems to be upset an angry for the reality of Release and he cant`t understand why they do it, but what he knows is that they don`t know what they are doing. I can make a prediction with this quote, since Jonas now agree with the plan to give the community the memories, I predict that once he runs away and the community has the memories he will return no the community and help everyone understand everything by himself, since I believe that The Giver will be with Rosemary, death.
Finally I believe The Giver so far has being a very interesting book which now is at one of the most important actions which is elaborate the plan so the community can get out of the lie they are all living in. Also it has come to a very sad point in which we know in order the commmunity can be so perfect as it is they have to kill people who don`t fit anymore.
